I made up my mind to lay out an "underground garden" in this art space. Last fall, I went to Sengokugahara. It is a grassy plain area covered all over with Susuki (Japanese pampas grass). In this region, the same scene appears every fall. From germination to death, from birth to disappearance, plants have cycles of life. I intended to make a spiritual world, using that wall of ruins, along with many objects which have the same quality. By watching my works, I would like you to feel existence and disappearance of the life, and darkness subsequent to them. |
